The sparkling GSM - titled ‘Legally Red’ in keeping with the legal theme - is a blend of Wrattonbully Shiraz with Barossa Grenache and Mourvedre. The quality of this wine is another tribute to its maker, Richard Langford, who has created a superb blend to arrive at a refined sparkling red dominated by real fruit, without straying to cloying sweetness - a rather elegant and classy dry sparkling red, in other words. Two versions of this superb bubbly are now available, with the initial ‘non vintage’ model having been joined by a 2005 vintage version - both offer a very similar taste experience (not entirely surprising, given that Richard made both), with the 05 perhaps a little drier and a smidgen more sophisticated on the palate.
